…. God existed?
Ask the average person in the street and you will likely get one of two answers – “Yes” or “No”. The question we are asking is whether or not they believe in a supernatural being who is ultimately in charge of all creation. But can we get any further – is there any proof available to us? One of the greatest minds who ever lived wrote this: “Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made.” (Romans 1: 20) Essentially, he’s saying; “Look around you – there’s enough evidence there to convince anyone”. But then he goes on to say: “Men are without excuse, for although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.” (Rom 1: 21-22) He realized that whether people say “yes” or “no” to the question of God’s existence isn’t an intellectual one, but rather a moral one. Saying God doesn’t exist appears to offer an excuse of not having to be accountable to Him. He also realized that whatever answer we now make will be ultimately revealed as true or not when, in his words, “Each of us will give an account of himself to God.” (Rom 14: 12)
